The MX-6s Mains Fencer is a high quality mains electric fencer with adjustable settings that is suitable for use on large permanent electric fences. The Mx-6s Mains Fencer is engineered using microchip technology to allow digital control over the pulse of the electric fence. With this technology you are able to control the time, frequency, and power of the pulse which lets you maximise the effect of your electric fence. Even though the MX-6s Mains Fencer is a very sophisticated electric fence it is still very easy to install and maintain.

The MX-6s Mains Fencer has an easy to read light up display that is visible from up to 30 metres away. This display gives you vital information on the performance and effectiveness of your electric fence. The MX-6s Mains Fencer also features an audible alarm to signal poor performance and low output on your electric fence.

Applications and uses for the MX-6s Mains Fencer

Cattle: Cattle are easily fenced with little or no problems. Dairy cows that are accustomed to electric fences can normally be strip grazed with a single strand of polywire or tape.

Sheep and Goats: Sheep and goats have longer hair than other livestock, this hair acts as an insulator against the electric fence. This situation is easily resolved by using a stronger power outage than is needed with other livestock.

Horses: Even though horses can be livelier and more energetic than cattle, they are just as easy to contain. The containment of an electric fence provides safety and security for the animal. It is recommended that tape be used for fencing instead of wire to make the boundaries clearly visible for the animals.

Pigs: Tape is also recommended for good visibility when containing pigs. Distance between the fence lines and number of fence lines are important factors though when containing pigs.

Power Supply: This fencer requires a mains power supply. If you do not have a power supply in the vicinity of the fencer we also supply a range of battery and solar fencers.

Things to remember when setting up an electric fence

The connection between the mains fencer and the fence must be connected properly and firmly.

If wires are passing through a wall it is essential that the wires are insulated otherwise there is a possibility that the fencer will lose power.

All joints and connections in the fence must be made using the correct joiners to ensure a firm connection throughout the fence.

Permanent fences should be checked and maintained regularly and any vegetation touching the fence must be removed.

Earthing Systems

A proper earthing system is essential to any electric fence, without a proper earthing system there would be no shock from your fence line. An earthing system works similar to how an aerial for a radio works but instead of collecting airwaves the earthing system picks up electrons from the ground and transmits them around the fence with each pulse.

When installing an earthing system there are three main factors you must take into consideration

  • Type of soil
  • Power of fencer
  • The length of the fence

Visibility of Fence

Having a visible fence is very important. The animal will remember the shock it received and will realise the fence is a barrier so the fence must be visible for the animals to see.

Training Period

Animals need time to adjust to the installation of an electric fence. A training period of 24 to 48 hours should be allowed where the animals are allowed to touch the fence and be shocked. This will help the animals realise the boundaries enforced by the fence.
